So, today I woke up with the following scripture ringing in my heart:
Romans 5:5, 8 NIV
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Initially I was wondering what Gods love had to do with hope not putting us to shame. So I asked God to open my eyes so I could see the marvellous thing He was showing me (Ps 119:18). He then led me to ask my Dad who was in the next room.
My Dad explained to me that God's love is the basis of our hope. In other words our unshakable hope and faith in God is harnessed in our knowledge and understanding of the limitless love He has for us.
He had our backs even while we were still deep in sin, and that was because of how much He loved us and we are assured of this through His Spirit, just as His spirit witnesses to us that we are indeed Gods Children (Rom8:16).
For instance, why does a child trust (with reckless abandon) that their parents would have lunch sorted out for them when they get back from school? Well I believe that deep down inside the child knows that its because he or she is loved too much by his/her parents for them to let him/her starve.
Its all an intertwined love triangle. We have faith in God because we've seen the intensity of His love and then based on that faith we step out obediently in our love for Him and love the people He has made..check this out:
Galatians 5:5-6 NIV
For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
God loves us -> We receive His love & love Him back -> this love then propels us to love one another.
I've said it over and again here in different ways for emphasis, but the question is are you ready put your absolute trust in His love?
Please meditate on the following verses, I believe they say it all:
Romans 8:28, 31-38 NIV
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present or the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God thst is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This is the engine of our faith!
Be Spekky...Be Spectacular!
